Serve

As a community that seeks to not only proclaim, but also embody, the story of Jesus, hospitality and mission are at the core of our congregation's values. At Christ Church of Davis we believe that we are active participants in the work of restoring and renewing the world, and that we take part in this work in both big and seemingly small ways. We seek to live out the priorities of Jesus by loving our neighbor, our community and our world because we are animated by our hope that through Christ, God is making “all things new.” We seek the good of our local community, laboring toward its spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and economic good.

Below are a few ways that you can serve at Christ Church. We hope you partner with us as we continue to work out what it looks like to be a faith community here in Davis!

Serving at Christ Church

A/V and Sound Tech Team

We need folks willing to serve on our A/V and sound tech team for Sunday services. We'll train you! If you're interested, contact us to learn more.

Church Yard Work

Interested in gardening or mowing? We're always looking for volunteers to help with weekly mowing of our lawns, pulling weeds, and keeping the landscaping around the property looking nice. If you're interested, contact us to learn more.

Nursery and Christ Church Kids

Participate in the care and education of Christ Church’s little ones during the service. Send a message to our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Shelly Dirksen (shellydirksen@gmail.com), to learn more about different ways to help.

Weekly Worship Service Hospitality

As a growing congregation, we rely on volunteers to help prepare for and clean up after every service. There are multiple ways you can serve! Contact Pastor Aleah if you are interested or have any questions about these opportunities.

  • Greeters: We ask greeters to arrive at church 15 minutes before service starts to be a cheerful face welcoming those that arrive on Sunday mornings, and helping answer questions from visitors.
  • Setup and teardown: Helpers typically commit about 40 minutes before or after the service, and most folks help out once or twice a month, depending on their availability.
  • Bread baking: You can also serve by baking bread for communion each week. This is a great option to serve with flexible timing during the week, and we'll provide the recipe!

Serving our Community and the World

Grace in Action

Our congregation has committed to help Grace in Action provide meals to those in our community who are without shelter or are living without access to basic needs and services. We have commmitted to providing 30 sack lunches on the second Wednesday of every month to help support this community.
